This Is Not America

While you’re celebrating your independence today, stop for a moment to think about what America has become.  Is this what you want the future of America to be?

At 238 years old, is America today what Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison and the other Founding Fathers and Mothers envisioned?

Every man who loves peace, every man who loves his country, every man who loves liberty ought to have it ever before his eyes that he may cherish in his heart a due attachment to the Union of America and be able to set a value on the means of preserving it.

James Madison –  Federalist Paper Number 41.

Snowman melting from the inside
Falcon spirals to,
The ground
(this could be the biggest sky)
So bloody red, tomorrow’s clouds

A little piece of you,
The little piece in me
Will die
(this could be a miracle)
For this is not America

If you have water to drink……

Pennsylvania has confirmed at least 106 water-well contamination cases since 2005, out of more than 5,000 new wells. A Texas spreadsheet contains more than 2,000 complaints, and 62 of those allege possible well-water contamination from oil and gas activity.

No longer give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free

A plan to transport three busloads of Central American families through San Diego for processing at the Murrieta Border Patrol station took an unexpected turn Tuesday when scores of protesters blocked the buses from entering.

The protesters lined up outside the Border Patrol station in Murietta, a city about an hour north of San Diego where the group of about 140 unauthorized immigrants, including parents and children, was to be processed.

And ruled by the very rich who are destroying the democratic principles on which the country was founded.

Conservative megadonors Sheldon Adelson, the Koch brothers and Donald Trump aren’t stopping with their efforts to swing the presidential election. Now, they’re shoveling cash into down-ticket races.

THIS IS NOT AMERICA.

I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns shot above our heads
(over our heads)
And we kissed,
as though nothing could fall
(nothing could fall)
And the shame was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes,
just for one day
